At The Arbor at Lake Worth, the same exercise class can look different depending on who's in the room. One group moves through a full routine at a quicker pace, guided by an instructor. The next group, in that same room a little later, works through a version paced to match where each resident is that day. Same activity, same space, two different experiences, because the residents in each group need something different from it.
Bridges supports residents who enjoy active participation in social, intellectual, and wellness-focused opportunities while still benefiting from cognitive support and structure. Programs are designed to foster purpose, independence, and meaningful connection.
Evergreen supports residents who benefit from a more individualized approach to engagement, with programs that emphasize comfort, familiarity, sensory experiences, and one-on-one or small-group interaction. Care and activities are adapted to meet each resident where they are while promoting dignity and quality of life.
Residents participate in one pathway or the other based on their strengths, abilities, and preferred style of engagement. Both receive the same memory care services, the same staffing standards, and the same dementia-trained team. What differs is how an activity is delivered, so that every resident can participate successfully in it.
While the two pathways share many common themes, each is intentionally designed to offer the right level of support, structure, and interaction, so residents can engage alongside cognitive peers and experience connection, purpose, and success every day.
The most significant change is how residents move through the building.
Rather than spending the entire day in one area with the same group, residents travel to activity spaces elsewhere in the neighborhood for art, exercise, and music programming. They spend that time alongside cognitive peers. Then they return to their own side of the neighborhood for dining and the evening.
This restores a rhythm that cognitive change tends to erase. You go somewhere, you do something, you spend time with your friends, and then you come home. Home becomes a place you return to rather than a place you never leave.
Grouping residents with cognitive peers also shapes the social experience. Participating alongside others who engage at a similar pace means fewer moments of being left behind and fewer moments of waiting, which we believe makes the day more comfortable for everyone in the room.
A pathway is not a permanent classification. As abilities and interests change over time, programming can evolve too, so residents continue to experience engagement that's meaningful, enjoyable, and suited to their individual strengths.
Our team observes continuously. When a resident is no longer comfortable or successful in a particular activity, the activity changes. We do not ask residents to adapt to our programming.
Unlike a one-size-fits-all memory care program, our personalized pathway approach recognizes that individuals experience cognitive change differently. By offering both Bridges and Evergreen programming within the same neighborhood, we can tailor each resident's experience while maintaining the comfort, familiarity, and relationships of a consistent, connected community.
Bridges and Evergreen offer trusted, compassionate pathways to help residents in our memory care neighborhood continue living each day with purpose, connection, and moments of joy.
To see both pathways in action, we recommend visiting during programming hours, when the difference between them is something you can watch rather than something we describe. Schedule your visit today.
