For 30 years, The Arbor Company has empowered seniors to live better lives, gain more independence, and remain as healthy as possible. Bernadette Theodore, known affectionately as Ms. B. to the staff, has been with Arbor almost since the very beginning. In her 27 years of service at The Preserve, she’s learned that good people can make a difference in the lives of seniors at every step of the aging journey.
As a server in our dining room, Bernadette diligently works to ensure that each meal is an exceptional experience. She sees and works with our residents every day, and has become a beloved member of our Arbor community.
Bernadette Theodore: An Arbor Legend
Ms. B. was born in Haiti, and came to the United States in 1987. The mother of six children and four grandchildren, she’s a natural nurturer, and brings that compassionate approach with her to work each day. She continues to enjoy traveling to New York and New Jersey to spend time with her wide network of family and friends.
Bernadette is a natural when it comes to serving others. She’s also active in her church, where she sings in the choir and helps prepare Sunday meals.
When Bernadette first joined The Preserve family at its very beginning, it had just 11 residents. This small, cozy community offered the ideal place for sharpening her interpersonal skills, getting to know senior residents, and really understanding what makes good senior living tick.
Compassionate, Committed Care
Bernadette has helped build The Preserve from a small and close-knit community into the thriving world it is today. Her work is more than just a job. It’s a deeply felt calling rooted in her commitment to service. “God gave me this place, and I don’t want to leave,” she explained.
It’s that commitment to serving others that sets Arbor apart. We’ve been here for three decades, helping seniors tackle every challenge aging throws at them. We see retirement as more than just a series of challenges, though. We know that the right community can empower seniors to live longer, healthier, more meaningful lives. People like Bernadette, who see each senior as a unique and valuable individual with needs and feelings that matter, help us remain committed to that mission every day.
The Preserve is a special place, and our residents consistently tell us how grateful they are to live here. We’d love to take you on a tour and to show you the difference we’re making in residents’ lives each and every day. Stop by to meet Bernadette and our entire community. We can’t wait to show you how incredible retirement can be!
