The decision to move into a senior living community is not always an easy one to make. Sometimes the decision has to be made on behalf of your loved one for their own safety. However, what may begin with hesitation can end up being one of the best decisions you’ve ever made.

It is understandable why your loved one may resist leaving the home they knew to live in an environment that is unfamiliar. However, we know that there are many pros to living in a senior living community, from safety to a sense of community to new friendships.

Through reviews from our residents and their loved ones, learn more about life at Arbor Terrace Cascade.

SAFETY

Sometimes it is no longer safe for your loved one to live alone at home. Maybe the upkeep is too much or the home isn’t “aging-ready.” Maybe you’ve noticed signs of decline like missed medications and scorched pans. When this happens, a move into a senior living community is important for their safety and well-being.

Knowing your loved one is safe and cared for is a tremendous relief for many family members. Kimberly Jan shared this heartfelt message, “I cannot give the staff of this community the credit they deserve in extending a loving and caring embrace of my dad. His transition into this community was seamless and he is truly at home. Thanks to Soror Kamilla and the entire staff for such a professional and empathetic process. Daddy is so comfortable at Arbor. My sister and I are overwhelmed with gratitude.”

FEELS LIKE HOME

Senior living communities help build a sense of community. Our trained staff keeps residents engaged and maintains deep connections through shared interests and stories. Our community is modern and updated with cozy corners for reading, gardens, and dining rooms where residents eat together.

Our staff strives to make deep connections with residents and provide a home-like environment. At Arbor Terrace Cascade, everyone becomes family. Resident Carolyn Bell shared, “I am a resident at Arbor Terrace Cascade and I have felt welcomed ever since I walked through the door. The staff here has taken care of me, making sure that I have no problems. They make sure that I am well fed, and the food is delicious. They make sure that I am in good spirits, everyone always greets me and ensures that I am happy. I have recently lost some family members, but the Cascade team has become family.”

Christopher Williams also shared this message regarding assisted living, “Don't give it a second thought. It's tried and tested and comes with LOVE!”

AMENITIES

When thinking of a senior living community, some may remember visiting their grandparents in a nursing home. From pools and game rooms to libraries and cocktail lounges, this is not your great-grandma’s senior living.

The way we look at senior living has evolved and seniors are staying active now more than ever. In addition to modern and updated decor, senior living communities offer many amenities like housekeeping, laundry services, and transportation.

Family member, AD Britt gushed about the community in an online review. “Arbor Terrace has been a godsend for our family. Assisting our loved one to transition from independence in her own home to a caring and nurturing environment. The living areas and community areas are spacious, well-kept and beautifully decorated. The environment complements the lifestyle these retired professionals are familiar with.” She went on to say, “Dining among other residents or having a choice to dine alone in-residence helped our family member to interact at her own pace.”

ACTIVITIES

Seniors can be affected the most when it comes to isolation, especially while dealing with an ongoing pandemic. Due to increased isolation, seniors are reevaluating their living arrangements.

As your loved one ages, engagement is imperative for their well-being. Arbor Terrace Cascade offers many activities and opportunities for residents to engage and learn new skills. Charlotte Hopkins applauded the community with this message, “Thank you to Arbor Terrace at Cascade for your loving care of my mother.” Charlotte continued, “Through the worst parts of COVID, you all kept her safe and engaged! She thrived with your activities and engagement. Although she had dementia, she always had a happy light in her eyes. She regularly said 'Take me back to where the people are so I can see what's going on’! Thank you for providing peace of mind.”

There are many benefits to living in a senior living community. That’s why so many seniors are making the move!
