There are people who just emanate light and happiness, and Joyce is one of them. Let's get to know this joyful resident!

Joyce was born in Rincon, Georgia near Savannah. Her father, John Dewey Bloodworth, was a contractor and moved their family to Jonesboro, GA when Joyce was four years old. Her mother Evadell, was a stay-at-home mom when Joyce was growing up. Joyce is the oldest of six siblings: Kaye, Carey, Terry, Dale, and Jackie. One thing Joyce is really proud of is that they are all on speaking terms and have great relationships with each other. Joyce attended Jonesboro High School in Georgia.

Joyce enjoyed a successful career as an excellent stenographer and office secretary. One fascinating fact is that she used to work for the FBI as a stenographer. Another job she had was at Air Lines Inc. in the Information Technology Department. She was a secretary for the State of Georgia in the Office Bar of Admissions. She eventually met her husband, Harvel Hillhouse, while working as a secretary at the Continental Insurance Company. He was a fire insurance agent. They fell in love and were married for almost 50 years!

Some of Joyce’s best memories are from the retirement years she spent traveling the world with her late husband (he passed away on Oct. 30, 2011). Their favorite place to vacation was Hawaii every Thanksgiving. They've been to all the Hawaiian Islands! Joyce also fondly remembers Harvel as an excellent golfer in his retirement years, while she formed a ladies’ golf group and would enjoy lunches with them. Now, Joyce enjoys her lunches and dinners here, at Arbor Terrace Peachtree City, with her close friends Rita, Mary, Patricia, and her dear sister Kaye. Joyce feels blessed to be here and loves being a part of the book club, and attending our happy hours and theme dinners! We are glad to have our joyful Joyce as well!
