What an inspiring and joy-filled moment it was at Arbor Terrace Marlton as residents took part in our Evergreen STEM Club — a program so unique and impactful it was recently featured on FOX29 Philadelphia!
Our community launched the Evergreen STEM Club to give seniors living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia a chance to reconnect with familiar skills, explore hands-on projects, and enjoy meaningful cognitive engagement. During the FOX29 visit, cameras captured residents carefully sanding, gluing, and assembling wooden cars with focus, determination, and big smiles as they worked alongside our teen volunteer, 15-year-old Parv Chikani.
Parv has volunteered with us for more than a year and a half, and his connection with our residents shone brightly on camera. He shared how many of our seniors once worked as engineers, physicists, and scientists—brilliant minds who simply need an outlet to express the creativity and knowledge they still hold. Through activities like building projects and puzzles, he’s seen how purposeful engagement can spark joy and keep cognitive skills active.
One of the most heartwarming parts of the day was watching residents light up as they worked through each step of the project. Their concentration, laughter, and sense of accomplishment were genuine and moving. These moments of problem-solving and hands-on success created a happiness that can’t be posed; one that comes from within.
Our team sees the impact daily: residents feel energized, confident, and proud when they create something with their own hands. These sessions are quickly becoming a beloved part of life at Arbor Terrace.
