Arbor Terrace Morris Plains has a long-standing partnership with Fox Rehabilitation Services in hosting engaging activities to promote memory, physical fitness and mental health. To the tune of the popular song “Happy” by singer, producer and songwriter Pharrell Williams, the residents recently danced themselves happy in celebration of National Assisted Living Week.

Specializing in physical, occupational and speech therapy, the Fox Rehab partners have become an extension of the Arbor Terrace Morris Plains family in getting everyone in the community moving, and this event was no exception. The residents were able to groove to the music and have it recorded for later viewing by themselves, family and friends. The happy day was part of a weeklong celebration that included other fitness, recreational, arts and educational activities.

Engagement Director Leah McRae said, “Everyone’s spirits were lifted by the music and dancing. Our residents really love health and wellness, so it wasn’t hard to get them to participate. Our relationship with Fox Rehab provides a valuable bridge between engagement and therapy, not just during assisted living week but yearlong.”

The question the staff has gotten most from the happy residents has been “When are we making another video?”
