Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias are serious health concerns in this country. As reported by the Alzheimer’s Association, 5.5 million Americans have the disease; that number is expected increase to 7.1 million by 2025.

As the number of dementia sufferers continues to rise, the approach to care is evolving. Not every senior with dementia symptoms requires comprehensive care. Moreover, the Alzheimer’s Association reports that approximately 15-20 percent of people age 65 and older have mild cognitive impairment (MCI)—a condition in which cognitive changes are noticeable, but not enough to impede daily life. A need has developed for “in-between” care in senior living for independent individuals who require some assistance to get through the day.

The Arbor Company, operators of Arbor Terrace Citrus Park and innovators in the field of senior living, developed the Bridges Program to offer an option for seniors with dementia needs who do not yet require carefully structured and supervised care. Arbor Terrace Citrus Park is proud to introduce this concept to our community and the Tampa area.

The Goal of Bridges

We’re most comfortable when we can be ourselves. For seniors in the early stages of memory loss or dementia, that isn’t always easy. Because each type of dementia is unique, the interventions that work to give each affected person the highest quality of life differ. Our Bridges Program eases the transition from independent or assisted living, letting you or your loved one maintain as much independence as symptoms allow, with support from memory care clinicians.

The Arbor Terrace Citrus Park Bridges Program offers the independence of assisted living with added cognitive support and care focused on memory loss. It’s the perfect blend of structure and security, with each individual’s level of care tailored to his or her specific needs.

Our Bridges neighborhood includes a custom community design and all Arbor Terrace services, plus these special care services:

  • Caring staff, trained with Arbor Terrace’s state-of-the-art cognitive care training curriculum

  • Individualized care plan for every resident

  • Medication management provided by professional staff

  • A structured guidance and activities program, integrating daily tasks of living and engaging all residents

  • Geriatric Care Manager Services available

  • Dementia and transitional care counseling for families

  • Monitored entries and exits

  • Daily programming is geared toward preserving independence and self-value while providing a level of support and guidance that is “just right” to fill the day with friendly and familiar experiences.

Arbor Terrace Citrus Park Offers It All

Of course, Arbor Terrace Citrus Park also offers other top-notch care options in our assisted living and Evergreen Program communities. Our assisted living program focuses on providing residents with anything from minimal assistance to comprehensive care. It’s the ideal choice for most seniors who need the perfect amount of care and assistance to supplement, but not change, the lifestyles they love.

Arbor Terrace’s Evergreen Program is another pioneering senior living innovation from The Arbor Company. Our Evergreen neighborhood is specially designed to provide 24-hour support for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Driven by the latest memory care research and backed by extensive staff experience and training, Evergreen is a small, intimate, low-sensory neighborhood that features completely individualized care programs, specialist attention, aromatherapy, Namaste programming, and even counseling and support for family members.

With the introduction of our Bridges program and the debut of our independent living community, Arbor Terrace Citrus Park strengthens its commitment to Tampa seniors and their families. I fell in love with the Senior population through my passion for volunteer work over ten years ago. I turned my passion into a full-time job, which to this day I will never consider work. Not only do I educate families and residents regarding Senior Living options but they continue to teach me something new each day.
