Everglades City children have Christmas pancakes with Santa and Collier deputies

December 22, 2016

Around 80 youngsters from Everglades City, Copeland, Chokoloskee, and Plantation Island enjoyed breakfast with Santa and early presents at a celebration on December 22nd in the Everglades City Community Center.

A dozen officers with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office were on hand to interact with the kids, a change from previous years when the youngsters would “shop with a cop” at a local store to buy gifts for their families. Afterward, they would gather at Barrington Terrace of Naples, an assisted-living facility in East Naples, to sing to the residents.

Funding was tight this year, so a few Barrington residents instead came to the community center in Everglades City for breakfast with Santa.
