It’s not every day your community chef gets to represent you on a statewide stage — but that’s exactly what happened this spring when Chef Kelvin Harris was chosen to compete in the 2025 Georgia Senior Living Association (GSLA) Chef Competition in Savannah.

Out of all the talented chefs across Georgia, only six were picked to show off their skills, and Chef Kelvin was the only one representing The Arbor Company. From the moment the announcement was made, our whole community couldn’t stop buzzing with excitement.

If you’ve ever tasted one of Chef Kelvin’s meals, you know all about the love and creativity that goes into every dish. He knows exactly what makes our residents light up, whether it’s a familiar comfort food or something new to try.

He also makes sure every meal feels special, no matter a person’s needs or abilities. That care and attention are what make dining here so enjoyable — and what made him such a natural fit for this competition.

Executive Director Andrea Webb even shared how proud he was to see everyone come together and how much joy it brought the residents to support one of their own. Many even wrote sweet notes for Chef Kelvin, wishing him luck and telling him just how much his cooking means to them.

A Moment to Remember

The competition might have taken place miles away, but it felt like it was happening right in our dining room. Chef Kelvin’s journey reminded all of us what makes this community so special: the people who pour their hearts into what they do, and the way we all rally behind each other.

We’re so proud of you, Chef Kelvin — not just for representing Hamilton Mill and The Arbor Company, but for making every meal here feel like something worth celebrating.
