Housing costs are soaring all over the country, as real estate prices continue an upward trend. Apartment rents have climbed even more steeply.

While markets across the United States are trending higher, Miami tops the U.S. average. The website Payscale.com estimates that the cost of housing in Miami is 44% higher than the national average.

And a study by Realtor.com found that rental costs have risen by 58% in Miami over the past two years, compared to 19% nationally.

According to RentCafe.com, the average apartment rent in Miami is $1,998, and in some neighborhoods, the prices range much higher.

In the Miami Design District, the average rent is $2,506, while it’s $2,586 in Brickell, and $2,856 in Brickell Key.

Even a studio apartment costs significantly more in Miami, according to BestPlaces.net. The average rent for a Miami studio apartment is $1,172, compared to an average of $949 in the rest of the country.

The overall cost of living is higher in Miami too, which means residents pay more for food, transportation, and other costs of daily life.
