Joyce Willis, a vibrant 83-year-old, is one of the most beloved residents of Arbor Terrace Naperville. A retired accountant for the State of Illinois, Joyce chose Arbor because she knew she wanted a meaningful retirement. She says her favorite thing about retirement is being able to do whatever she wants. Arbor plays a key role in ensuring that’s exactly what Joyce gets to do. Here’s what Joyce has learned about retirement, relationships, and life in her 83 years of cultivating expertise on what it means to live well.

A Rich Life Can Be Even Richer in Retirement

A quiet retirement spent in a rocking chair was never an option for Joyce. She loves bowling and parties, and is an avid traveler who has been to Russia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, London, Hawaii, and Alaska. When you’ve been to so many places, you learn to appreciate people of all backgrounds. That appreciative spirit shines through in everything Joyce does. “Joyce is a wonderful person. She’s a joy to have at activities,” gushed Lori Kenzel, Engagement Director.

Joyce believes the recipe for a good life is pretty simple: love, live, and be happy. “Always remember to let the people you care for know that you love them,” she said. Bringing these simple principles to Arbor, Joyce has spread her infectious joy throughout the community, enriching the lives of everyone she meets.

The Arbor Difference

Joyce is thrilled with her decision to move to Arbor. She says the workers are nice and easy to get along with. She enjoys the activities, games, and outings because they allow her to keep exploring and continue living life on her terms. She says her favorite memory is when a group of residents went to a showing of Shen Yun at the Paramount Theatre. Arbor remains committed to helping Joyce and all residents enjoy the best possible retirement. You only retire once. We help you make it count.

Tips for Retirement Planning

Joyce knows how lucky she was to find and choose Arbor. She advises seniors considering a move to take their time and check out the community first. Eat a meal. Meet the staff and evaluate the quality of care. Make sure everyone is easy to get along with.

These small things add up to a life well lived at Arbor, and Joyce is living proof of the incredible difference the right retirement community can make.
