At Arbor Terrace Morris Plains, we are lucky to call some truly remarkable people home, and Fran might just be the most remarkable of all. At 103 years old, Fran sat down with executive director Laurie for a conversation that touched on nearly a century of memories, milestones, and hard-earned wisdom.
Born in Boston in 1923, Fran grew up watching Franklin Roosevelt lead the country through the Depression, witnessed the grief of a nation when JFK was assassinated, and has lived long enough to master email. She spent her younger years modeling for a Boston camera club, volunteering as a nurse's aide, and organizing a cross-generational voter service project through the League of Women Voters that she still lights up talking about today.

She was married to her husband, Albert, for 67 years, and when asked the secret, her answer was simple: respect. When Laurie asked about the secret to longevity, Fran credited her genes, a lifelong commitment to exercise, and a sense of humor she calls one of the most important things a person can have. She also has one unfulfilled dream: deep-sea diving. Press play and spend a few minutes with Fran; we promise you won't regret it.
