A senior care community should feel like home. And although a beautiful building and its rooms are lovely, it’s not just decoration that makes a house a home. Instead, senior communities should be full of life and laughter, friends and board games, comfort foods and new neighbors. At Arbor Terrace Willistown, we find it’s our lovely building and apartments that bring seniors in, but it’s the friendly faces within that make our community quickly become home.

Angella Benjamin (1)

Our senior community is fortunate to have team members who tirelessly serve our residents. They complete their tasks with love, but they also build meaningful relationships with residents. Angella Benjamin is living out the Arbor Company culture right here in our Willistown community.

More Than Just Dining Services

Angella Benjamin has been working in senior care for 14 years and has called Arbor Terrace Willistown her home away from home for the past 5. Currently, she serves in our Dining Services department as a cook and Utilities Services team member.

When she reports to work, she does so with a smile and a positive attitude. She supervises staff on duty in the kitchen and is responsible for the preparation and presentation of all food that goes out during her shift. She wears many hats, though, and you can often find her helping out throughout the dining room and dining department.

Angella’s role is important. Our residents look forward to seeing what delicious entrees she has prepared each day. But what makes Angella special goes beyond her duties inside the kitchen — she knows that the real magic happens in the hallways, dining room, and living rooms throughout our community.

Building Friendships and Learning New Things

Angella can be spotted in the kitchen or the dining room, but you can also find her sitting at a table with residents playing Rummikub. She loves talking to residents and learning new things about them, and the residents love teaching her their favorite games. We love watching Angella foster fun, meaningful relationships.

But it isn’t just a board game that brings Angella to the table with residents. She finds new ways to connect with residents throughout the day. She fondly recalls Doris, a memory care resident whom she bonded with over a shared love of the Philadelphia Phillies. “Doris called me her best friend,” says Angella as she smiles.

Inspiring Others

When other team members see Angella interacting with residents, it leaves a good impression. Toni, a member of our Engagement team says, “Angella really enjoys being involved with the residents! She always delivers service with a smile.”

Rita, our front desk receptionist, sees Angella in action, too. “Angella is so respectful and considerate of the residents.”

As for Angella, she just sees her job as one of service to those around her. “Working here at Arbor Terrace Willistown is truly a gift,” she says.
