Melissa Sloper

Executive Director

Melissa has 20 years of Senior Living Experience and a background in education. She has managed many Senior Living Communities on the East and West Coast as a Divisional Director of Operations before joining The Arbor Company. Melissa is dedicated to coaching and mentoring high quality teams. She is passionate about serving seniors. Recently Melissa and her family relocated from Washington State, trading in their rain coats for suntan lotion to join the team on Amelia Island.

Meghan Lowry

Associate Executive Director

Meghan is an award-winning volunteer organizer who has spent 20 years assisting nationally known service organizations contribute to their communities. Before her rewarding career in senior care began as an engagement director, she was most proud of the work she accomplished with the United State Army and the American Red Cross. That experience is an integral part of her ability to bring a community together and solve individual challenges. While living in Atlanta, she served on several committees committed to enhancing the lifestyle of seniors. Her peers describe her as "an intuitive friend who always puts others before herself." It is her honor and a privilege to be a part of each day at Lakeside at Amelia Island.

Brenda Martin

Engagement Director

Brenda Martin is a seasoned Engagement Director serving the Assisted Living and Memory Care residents at the Lakeside of Amelia Island. She has years of experience in the senior living industry, most of which have been spent engaging residents. Her career began at a nursing center on St. Simons Island, GA. Brenda has had a passion for serving the senior community since she was a little girl. She has a proven track record with inspiring her team to develop new and exciting programs and is focused on deep connections and providing purposeful living opportunities to the residents at Lakeside. Her friends and colleagues will tell you, “Brenda has a giving heart and warm smile that bring joy to all those she serves.”

Kendall Jones

Evergreen Director

Kendall joins the Lakeside of Amelia Island team as the Evergreen Program Director. After graduating from Fernandina Beach High School in 2003, he decided early on that serving the elderly population was what he wanted to do. Kendall started his career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), then became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) , and then earned his RN and Associates degree in Nursing. In 2018 Kendall graduated with Honors earning his B.S. in Nursing, (BSN) and is now is pursuing a Master’s in Nursing at the prestigious University of West Florida in Pensacola. With an extensive clinical background in skilled and oncology nursing, Kendall has a developed a passion to serve the elder population, especially those patients living with dementia. Kendall has an infectious smile and upbeat personality that spreads throughout the community.

Jennifer Rowe

Business Office Director

Jennifer has over 20 years of business management experience including over 12 years in senior living. After stumbling into senior living quite accidentally, she found her new passion. She recently finished her Bachelors in Finance at the University of Central Florida and found a new home at The Lakeside. As the Business Office Director, she can balance her time between fancy numbers and budgets, with happy hours and meaningful moments with residents. She has one son in the Navy and two daughters following her footsteps at UCF. Go Knights! Both Jennifer and her husband traded the hustle and bustle of the big city of Orlando for the slower pace of the beach. Her passion for classic and vintage items are notable in her VW Beetle and her love of wine.

Marissa Marody

Move-In Coordinator

Marissa has been working with older adults in different capacities since 2010. She has provided social services to older adults in skilled nursing facilities, non-profit organizations, and aging and disability resource centers. Marissa has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a certificate of gerontology. Currently, Marissa is working on her Master of Social Work degree through the University of Central Florida. Her main goal is to use her education and experience to enhance lives of the individuals she works with. Marissa is proud to serve on The Lakeside team.

Tenishia Colvin

Resident Care Director

Tenishia joined the Lakeside team as the Evergreen Program Director in 2018. Shortly after she accepted the position as The Resident Care Director. She gave up her snow boots in Cleveland, OH and relocated to Florida. Tenishia started her nursing career as a CNA in Detroit 20 years ago. In 2008 she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and has been privileged to care for seniors in several capacities including Assisted Living, Independent Living, Memory Care, Restorative Nursing and Skilled Nursing. She is also a Certified Wound Care nurse. Tenishia has a passion for helping seniors live a fulfilling life at any age or stage of Alzheimer’s or dementia. She has been a dedicated participant with the Alzheimer’s Association in both Ohio and Florida.

The Receptionist, Hannah, was so helpful in putting together a special event for my father. All the staff have been have been so gracious and helpful getting Dad settled in his new home.

Family Member

I used to sit home and skip meals rather than eat alone. Now I enjoy the company of friends and I’m eating three meals a day. I have a regimented exercise program that includes a nice morning walk on the grounds.
