A financial power of attorney can be set up in a way that fits a parent's preferences. A durable version can be helpful if they want someone to start managing bills right away, while a springing version may feel more comfortable if they'd like to keep control until they truly need help. Either way, it's a separate document from a healthcare power of attorney, which covers medical decisions.
