In the spirit of continued social distancing but still maintaining meaningful family connections, the staff at Arbor Terrace of Middletown hosted a family drive-by parade on Thursday, June 11 and Friday, June 12, for the community’s residents in independent and assisted living.

Approximately 36 residents over a two-day period were able to see and wave at family members, as they drove through the community with horns blowing and signs waving in support of their loved one.

To ensure they are complying with social distancing guidelines, the staff had residents on each floor of the community’s two-story building come out during different times and family members were asked to wear masks in their vehicles.

“Connecting with those they love in whatever way possible is critical to our residents’ mental and emotional health during this remaining time of community quarantine,” said Amy Segen, engagement director. “Knowing how much this means to the residents and their family members makes all the effort worth it.”
