This year, the engagement team at Arbor Terrace Lakeway selected “The Wizard of Oz” as the theme for the annual Halloween Party. The community was abuzz with excitement as team members decorated half of the community room with colorful balloons, vintage movie posters, photos and handmade flowers. The other half was transformed into a classical Hollywood movie premier setting with a themed backdrop, custom made Yellow Brick Road and life-size character cutouts.
The engagement team also went all out wearing Halloween- or character-themed costumes. Residents joined the fun, including Beverly Stueber, who wore a festive pumpkin shirt and sweater. Two Lakeway volunteer dogs also attended in canine bat costumes.
Attendees were treated to a pre-movie party with refreshments including freshly made popcorn from a vintage machine, Yellow Brick Road mimosas, a Sparkling Ruby Red Slipper drink, and Glinda, the Good Witch Bubbly. Tasty snacks, Halloween-themed cookies and other desserts were plentiful. Residents took turns posing on the Yellow Brick Road while enjoying the treats and drinks.
“I love the event and felt like I was at a movie premier!” shared Lyn, a resident ambassador.
Janet Agajanian, enjoyed the festivities. “I loved the party, movie and food! Maybe we should have a Wizard of Oz event every year!”
