Picture a 95-year-old in a flight suit, grinning like she just got away with something. That was the scene at iFLY when six residents of Arbor Terrace Sudley Manor went indoor skydiving together.
Their ages ranged from 54 to 95. One is a Navy veteran who flew the day after his birthday. One is a former federal agent who trained as a paratrooper years ago and wanted to feel that rush again. One had recently lost his wife and decided this was a good place to start finding out what comes next.
What Made the Day Happen
The outing was an Arbor Dream, which is how we help residents chase down an experience they have been thinking about. Sometimes that means a fishing trip or a visit to a favorite city. This time it meant a wind tunnel, a lot of nervous laughing in the waiting area, and six people who floated. Our team spends time learning what residents love, and then looks for ways to make it happen, whether that is a birthday party, a favorite dessert, or a flight suit.
Every single one of them flew. When they came back down, they had the same reaction: "We all want to come back!"
