Madeline Leonard

Written by Tupua Ainu'u/Edited by Executive Director Steven Sanders

Almost every day you might hear someone singing (with a Snow White nightingale voice) while making her way to the dining room. This beautiful voice belongs to resident Madeline Leonard! We got excited to hear that she was going to perform for Arbor's Talent Show last month. Before we tell you why, let's find out more about this talented lady.

Madeline seemingly has been singing since she came into the world. From the radio, movies and television, she always sang what she heard. At 15 years old, she had the honor of being on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour show in the 1950’s. Madeline sang an operatic song from Tosca and she said it was one of the best memories of her life. Madeline grew up in Queens, New York and attended Queens College. She is grateful that there was no tuition.

She met her future husband there and married at 25 years old. She had five kids (four in six years) with John. She was a first and second grade teacher, and then became a secretary to the Vice President at Pace University. Her dear husband passed away in 2015 after being married for 63 years.

Madeline lived in Peachtree City for many years. When Arbor Terrace in Peachtree City first opened up 13 years ago, it was called Towne Club. She moved in three years after opening and has been here for nine glorious years. She really loves everything about Arbor Terrace! She loves to knit and makes hats for newborn babies at Piedmont Hospital.

For years, we've been trying to get Madeline to sing in our choir or for some event. She always said that she only sings for her church choir. This year we are lucky that she wanted to participate in our talent show! She is one of the many amazing residents that live here at Arbor Terrace Peachtree City!
