My dad had reluctantly given up driving a couple of months before moving into independent living at the Summit of Uptown. He was very upset about the loss of independence and being able to get out to meet friends for a pint at the local Irish pub.
Since my dad was no longer driving, having a driver available for short trips was a selling point when he was choosing a retirement community. Thanks to the Summit's friendly and patient driver Ike, my dad is still able to get out regularly to enjoy a shandy. All of the staff have been friendly, caring and welcoming.
The Summit of Uptown truly knows how to make people feel right at home. After living in their previous home for decades, the transition to a new place can feel overwhelming, but the warmth and care shown here make all the difference.
The staff goes above and beyond to ensure residents feel comfortable, welcomed, and part of a community right from the start. It's clear they understand how meaningful "home" is, and they've created an environment where people can thrive while still feeling that same sense of belonging.
Assisted Living
My mother has been a resident for about eight months, and the CNAs and staff treat my mother like family.
The list could go on and on from the warm and welcoming reception from Dawn and Priscilla to the food service staff in the dining room like Emma who treats my mom like a queen! The CNAs are incredible; Connie, Sara, Lizzy, Kierra, Shakira, Juliana, and more. Anuja is attentive to every detail and is led by the amazing resident director, Marinela. We are so fortunate to have their care and support.
Temo and Oscar make sure that everything is working in order at all times, helping with little things like fixing the remote control to the TV or a blind cord for the window. Matt and his team, Rosa and Mae, keep the activities current and plan weekly outings — the lunch bunch is my mom's favorite! Thank you for all that you do!
We moved my grandmother into the Summit of Uptown in March 2024, and from day one, everyone has gone above and beyond to care for her and has made her feel at "home". I can't say enough positive things about ALL of the staff there, but in particular, Connie has been so incredibly kind and caring, patient, nurturing, and truly listens to my grandmother's needs and feelings. She is always quick to come when my grandmother hits her button, which is always reassuring.
Connie always goes the extra mile to make sure my grandmother feels loved and well taken care of. My grandmother looks forward to participating in all of the activities (esp Bingo!) every day, and she thoroughly enjoys all of her meals in the beautiful restaurant, which is saying a lot because my grandmother is VERY picky when it comes to food.
I even enjoy participating in all of the activities when I visit her. Everyone makes me feel like I am part of their family too. I feel at ease knowing she is so well-cared for by everyone at The Summit!
My mom, Lorraine, has been living at the Summit for over a year now and I cannot say enough kind words about the staff, CNAs and nurses that have been taking care of her. There are two in particular that aren't really a team but they do work so well together — Juliette and Stella. They are both very caring and patient with my mom and pay attention to her needs. My family is very grateful for the kindness and support that my mother receives on a daily basis.
Memory Care
My mother was a resident of the Summit of Uptown's Memory Care Unit. Her care was outstanding: she was always well groomed & nourished and the staff surrounded her with love and care. Everyone went the extra mile to care for her. They provided cognitive enhancing daily activities and treated all residents with dignity.
The nurses and nursing assistants are knowledgeable & vigilant with infectious disease precautions & prevention. Family are always welcomed & included in decisions and care updates. I cannot say enough about the Memory Care Unit staff & environment. It was truly my beloved mother's home and when I would return to my home, I had great comfort in knowing she would be receiving the best care.
My mom moved into Summit of Uptown, Memory Care in July of 2022. The sales staff on the front end was professional in helping me navigate through this transition for my mom.
The recreation staff, specifically Matt and Emily, exhibit a passion for the daily activities they lead, as well as the special talented people they bring in. Holiday entertainment and decorations are amazing. Sharese and Ike at the front desk are warm and welcoming. The cleaning, cooking, service and maintenance staff work like a well-oiled machine.
The people at the Summit have been very good to us and to our Mother who is a resident there. My mother has lived in independent living and recently moved to memory care. The staff has been so kind to us. When I go to visit I feel very much at home. Mariah has been there for us as a great support in making the transition. My mother is very fond of Mariah as are the other residents. Boriana has been very helpful and kind to us also. I would recommend the Summit of Uptown in Park Ridge to anyone looking for good senior care.
