Community News The Lakeside at Amelia Island Celebrates One Year

This past year was a breakthrough year for the community, after being named the 2019 Nassau County Chamber of Commerce Large Business of the Year. The Lakeside at Amelia is also the only community in the area with Extended Congregate Care certification for all staff members. “In our first year alone, we moved more than 180 residents into the entire Lakeside community, and hired over 110 staff members from Amelia Island and surrounding communities,” shared Melissa Sloper, executive director at The Lakeside. “This year has been remarkable for our residents and we look forward to many more as part of the Fernandina Beach community.” As part of the anniversary celebration, attendees will have a chance to take photos with the sheep statues outside the community. The popular fixtures are located at more than a dozen communities around the U.S. owned by the community’s parent organization, The Arbor Company. Many staff members view the sheep as a symbol for the way the team “shepherds” residents and their families. The anniversary party event, which is open to the public, will feature bites from the Bayou, King Cake, and Dixieland jazz from the Spare Rib Jazz Trio. Festive attire is encouraged. The event takes place at The Lakeside at Amelia, located at 649 Amelia Island Parkway, Fernandina Beach, Florida.
