- Hello everyone. My name is Melissa, and we welcome you to a very special edition of Senior Living Live. We are on the broad, and we'll spend the next couple of minutes introducing you to a gem of a community here in South Florida. The Preserve at Palm-Aire. This gorgeous community just unveiled it's brand new bridges neighborhood and a facelift for it's memory care neighborhood. A brand new wing of the community celebrated with a ribbon cutting by the mayor of Pompano beach, Rex Hardin.

- We are lucky in Pompano beach, that we do have facility, a facility such as this where people can, they can come here, before they really have any problems, cognitive problems with so they can come here, enjoy their lifestyle, and as things progress, as things decline somewhat we call cognitive problems, they can stay in place, in a comfortable, a familiar place, and they can just enjoy their lives.

- This community now has everything, to offer every one no matter where you happen to be in your senior living journey. So sit back and relax and take in all the details. The preserve at Palm-Aire has to offer.

- The Preserve at Palm-Aire offers a unique opportunity, unlike any other in the area. We have independent living, that allows you to have luxury living, keep your own independence, but have a little assistance. Have somebody prepare those meals for you. An opportunity to meet with friends, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and enjoy each other's company. And as you progress and get need a little more help we move into assisted living, in assisted living, you can still have the same experiences that you had in independent, but you can have a little more oversight from care staff in order to help you with the things that you need. Then what's really unique is the new bridges neighborhood that Palm-Aire has added. This allows your loved one to stay in place. I may not need the complete oversight of a memory care neighborhood, and that's why it's bridges. It's that in between. I need to take the same things, that I have always done and always enjoyed, but I get to have them modified to meet both my cognitive and physical needs. So that I can still, if I've enjoyed painting all my life, I can continue to paint, but it's going to be set up, and give me the opportunities to still thrive and have friends, that are functioning on the same level as I am, so that I have cognitive peer, so I can enjoy each other's company and I can feel like I can be myself. And then I make progress even a little further into the memory care neighborhood. This is much more hands on, from the care staff as well as the engagement team. But day to day, I have a set routine. It may not be the same as everyone else, but I may have friends that do have the same routine so I can make my friends, and still continue to be the same person, that I've always been. And that you have always loved so that you can come visit me, and have an enjoyable visit, in a setting that allows me to thrive and make you happy.

- Another aspect of senior living, where this community really thrives is engagement. Each neighborhood offers daily opportunities uniquely tailored to meet your needs. Take a look.

- At Preserve Palm-Aire, the reason we have different neighborhoods is because we have different people, and people are on different parts of their journey. So we have great programs for residents who live in our independent living area. We have great programs for our assisted living. We have great programs for bridges and we have great programs for memory care. And that's the beauty of living here at The Preserve at Palm-Aier because we use gem level programming, to identify where someone would be, you know happy and best fit. Our first Gem Level is a Sapphire. So when you think of the gem sapphire it's blue, so a resident is true blue, truly independent like you and I on a good day, the next level is a diamond. And when you think of the gem diamond, it is the only gem that can cut glass. So these residents are still very independent but some, they can sometimes have a cutting tongue. They might have say some things that are a little sharp, but, and they very much thrive on routine. So when you think of sapphires and diamonds, they typically live in an independent living, scene setting or an assisted living setting. Next, we have our emeralds. So when you think of an emerald think of a stoplight and green on that stoplight means go. So these are our residents that are constantly on the go, looking for what's happening now, what we're doing next, what time is lunch? What are we having for lunch? They thrive in a structured environment, and they would live in our burgess neighborhood. And then last we have our ambers, rubies and pearls who typically live in our memory care neighborhoods and ambers are very sensory stimulated. Our rubies are more of on a constant go or a constant stop. And then our pearls are at end stage dementia, where they might not be able to verbalize or do a lot, but we still need to remember that there is a person inside there, and that we want to meet that person's needs emotionally every day. So there's literally something here for everyone, for all of you. So if you enjoy putt golf, you can putt golf. If you enjoy learning something new and taking a class, you can do that. If you enjoy happy hour and having a nice drink before dinner, you can do that. We have book clubs, we have all kinds of things that really appeals to everyone in what they enjoy doing.

- Are you ready to move in yet? Of course, making that leap to senior living. Isn't an easy decision. That's why we asked executive director, Melanie White to answer a few commonly asked questions about the process.

- So the biggest question that we get right now is should I move during a pandemic? I'm safer at my home. I'm, I'm not around other people. So COVID is not going to get to me, but that's not always the case. First of all, that COVID, won't get to you if you have outside help coming in. But but also it's, it's good to be somewhere where you're safe and other aspects of your life too, that you're getting the care that you need, that you're getting nutritious meals, that you're getting socialization. That plays so much of a part and helping us not be depressed during the time of the pandemic when, we're not getting a lot of socialization. So all of these factors, need to be taken into account. When your asking that question, do I move during a pandemic? And that question, the answer to that question may be different for everybody, but you need to explore it from all angles first. Another question that we're getting is, if I do decide to move in during a pandemic what's going on at the community? Are you keep? How are you keeping it safe? How can I be assured that my loved one will be safe? And that all those things that you say they're gonna be doing, they can actually do right now. So let's talk about the safety aspect. We at the Arbor company and at the Preserve at Palm-Aire take the cleanliness of the community and the sanitation of the community, very seriously. We have around the clock, somebody cleaning continuously with a peroxide based disinfectant. When people come in, they are screened with questions, and with their having their temperature taken. And then halfway through the time that they're here, we take their temperature again. So we make sure that nothing is getting by us, with the socialization we are allowing one-on-one visits. Now with family, we have engagement, that goes to the apartments and, and socializes with the residents. And soon we're going to begin opening our dining room again and allowing use of the pool and use of the gym. So we're starting to come out of the quarantine. And at the same time, keeping all of our safety protocols in place. Another question that we get a lot is, how much does it cost to live in senior living? And, you know, there's a place down the road that's less expensive. And you know, we are not the cheapest game in town, and we don't wanna be the Preserve at Palm-Aire. It takes pride in offering really great care, really great socialization through our engagement staff. I don't think anybody else in South Florida has the number of people devoted to engagement and activities as we have at the preserve. And so those things of course, come with a cost. But the, on the flip side if you are lowering the cost, just to try to get your census up, then something has to give to. So it's gonna be the activities program. It's gonna be the food. It's gonna be the number of people providing the care. And we don't want to skimp on that. We want to provide, not only a beautiful place to live, but a place that enriches your whole life. When you visit senior living communities, which in South Florida, there are a lot of them around. And a lot of them are very beautiful structures, but every senior living building comes with its own personality. And that's what you will purchase. Is does this feel like home? Is this where I want mom to be? Are these the people that I want to be around? And if you come into The Preserve at Palm-Aire, you will choose The Preserver at Palm-Aire.

- Well, we hope you enjoy this virtual tour of our, little gem in Palm-Aire, come by and see us. We've got great staff standing by to help you decide, which neighborhood, is right for you. As always, we appreciate you watching, Senior Living Live, have a great day, everybody.
