Independent Living
Opus is a beautiful senior living community. My parents have been in independent living for one month and love it. This is like a luxury resort with the most wonderful staff, delicious food, great programming, and friendly resident neighbors. The whole community is designed around the senior phase of life, allowing you to engage and connect in a safe and tranquil environment at a level you want. There's a support system in place that empowers you to be more independent.
Moving from my home of 50 years wasn't anything I saw in my near future. I never expected I could find a place that would allow me to feel comfortable, content, and nourished. However, I have, and my senior living experience has exceeded my expectations. After hours of research and visits to over seven different Memphis-area options, there was only one choice. It is the staff that is so special — passionate team members who have a heart for serving. Whether dining with new friends or taking advantage of activities like my art class or indoor pool, my days are filled. Every day it's like being on a luxury cruise without any negatives. I feel so lucky and can't imagine living anywhere else.
During my quest to find what I will consider my final earthly home, I thought I had seen it all until a relative made me aware of Opus East Memphis. To put it briefly, it models a fine vacation destination. My thanks to Melissa Stevens for ensuring I received the professional knowledge necessary to make sound decisions for this transition. Through the staff in culinary, security, the front desk, and the residents, I experienced the service, warm love, and hospitality I deem necessary for any environment I'd call home. I felt the genuineness in so many smiles! It's wonderful to know this beautiful, safe home with patient and trustworthy staff exists for us as seniors.
Assisted Living
There are not enough words to say how wonderful Opus has been for my Dad and our family! Opus IS our family now. My Dad has been there for over a year in Assisted Living and the care he receives from the most genuinely kind and compassionate people is unmatched! We've experienced a lot of healthcare, rehab, hospital, and in-home care environments, and this is hands down the most incredible place in Memphis! The peace it has brought me in knowing I can live my life too and my dad is taken care of is priceless! I am forever grateful for Opus!
After touring nine different assisted living and memory care facilities throughout the Memphis area, we chose Opus, and it has proven to be the right decision for our family. From our very first tour, we were impressed by the professionalism, warmth, and genuine care shown by the staff. A special thank you goes to Josephine, the Resident Director, who worked tirelessly to help keep my parents together during this major life transition. The nurses, physician, dining staff, and caregivers consistently demonstrate kindness and professionalism. One of the biggest surprises has been the activities program — Tammy, the Activities Director, is absolutely outstanding. Perhaps the greatest gift Opus has given our family is peace of mind. Knowing that our loved ones are safe, cared for, and treated with dignity brings an incredible sense of relief. I cannot recommend Opus highly enough.
Opus is a special place! After having visited many different assisted living options, I can definitely say that Opus has a different attitude and approach, truly valuing every individual — whether staff or resident.
Memory Care
My daughter has been a resident of Opus Memory Care (called Reflections) for several months. She has Dementia with Alzheimer's. Ulinda, the Director, and her staff are wonderful in the care and concern for her and all residents. They truly try to make Memory Care a home for residents. They know residents' likes and dislikes, their idiosyncrasies, and even their food preferences. There are activities almost every day, but residents are free to do as they please and not forced to participate. Residents are clean, nicely dressed, and staff knows their whereabouts at all times. In my opinion, Opus Memory Care residents live in a safe place, have good food, are well taken care of, and are free to participate in a variety of activities.
Update: I posted a review when she first moved in but want to add more since she's been in their memory care unit almost 2 years. The previous place made a lot of promises but didn't follow through. At Opus, when little things have come up, I just want to be heard and have action taken to make changes — and that is what I have gotten. The directors in Memory Care and Assisted Living are wonderful. There are many activities during the day and the outings are great. I never thought my mom would be as happy as she is. My mom has severe dementia but has grown so close to one employee in particular, Sylvester, and she knows him by name. He is an absolute angel, takes an interest in every resident, and gives her the best care I could ask for. One of the main reasons I moved is because all of their staff is trained in dementia care. I can finally have peace of mind that she is safe and being well cared for. And that is priceless!
I had the pleasure of touring Opus East Memphis. Melissa was very thorough, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The facility is a 10/10 — beautifully decorated, spacious, and offering a variety of amenities and activities for residents. The facility is gated, and Opus had everything I was looking for in a long-term memory care facility. I could definitely see my mother there as a future resident. I would highly recommend. I was highly impressed. 10/10!
