"My mother has been a resident for over three years, but it wasn't until your arrival that she truly began enjoying her experiences and felt that there was someone in management who took the time to REALLY listen and care for her wants and needs."
Larry, Family Member
"I want you to know that in my opinion you are the best executive director we have had since [I moved in]. The changes you have made here are all positive and in my opinion have enhanced our home. I've actually seen you painting, hanging curtains and doing many other chores that many others who are in your position would consider beneath their position. Besides always being pleasant with a smile on your face, you are always available to the residents and ready to help them with any problems they may have. You are our director, but also a friend to many of us. Most of us have great hopes for the new management. We are very pleased that they are not planning to change the staff, all of whom I find pleasant and hard working. I am especially happy that you will continue to be our executive director."
"During [Liz's] four year tenure you have been and continue to be warm, caring, congenial and always available. Overall the staff under your personal direction has made our life comfortable, homey, secure and pleasurable."
"Arbor Terrace staff are always approachable and friendly. They always take the time to help out in whatever way they can. Each time I enter the community I am so grateful to have such a caring place for mom to live."
"Thank you again for your support and assistance with both parents. We have a huge burden off our shoulders and cannot thank you enough."
“Liz” has been a senior-living professional for more than fifteen years, she entered the industry following a six year background of experience in health care. She has been Executive Director at Arbor Terrace for the past four years. Liz lives in Brooklyn with her three children who have obviously inherited her passion for servicing those advanced in age as her two eldest are also employed in the senior-living industry – her youngest, still in school, is interested in computers and finance. Liz has eclectic tastes in leisure activities: while she enjoys parasailing, zip lining and riding motorcycles, her favorite vacation is her annual summertime stay, with her family, at an Amish farm in Pennsylvania.
Lorraine has been a life-long resident of Closter, NJ. She earned a B.S. Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from St. Thomas Aquinas College and has put it to good use in the Senior Living Industry for the past twenty-four years, the last six years at Arbor Terrace. In her spare time she is a shopaholic and dotes on her Gordon setter, “Dakota.” She is our resident expert on all board games. So long as there's a beach and sunshine, Lorraine will vacation there. She even married her husband, in the Virgin Islands. The favorite part of her duties is sitting one-on-one with residents to learn about their families and life experiences.
Don has more than twenty years of experience as a chef, and during the past eleven years he has specialized in cooking for seniors. He lives in Dumont with his wife Laurel, a senior-care nurse. They have two grown children and one grandson, and Don can't wait until the boy is old enough to go fishing with him. Don likes playing Fantasy Baseball and enjoys watching college football. He lived in the south as a youngster, which probably accounts for him being a rabid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. Don is quite aware that he is cooking for a group made up, primarily, of former cooks! That's right, almost every woman he cooks for has been a cook for most of her life – and that's quite a challenge.
Business Office Manager
Katie has been in the service industry for the past sixteen years, five years with Restaurant Associates as Conference Services Director, and the past eleven years at Arbor Terrace. When she began her duties at the business office there were only nine residents – there are now more than one hundred and fifty. Katie was born in Cuba, lived in Spain, and migrated to the US with her parents in 1977. She is married and lives in Ridgefield with her three children. Katie has inherited her passion for working with seniors from her mother who recently retired after thirty years of social work with the aged population. Katie now considers the residents of Arbor Terrace an extension of her family.
Chris was born in Jamaica. He currently lives in Lodi with his long-time companion, Michelle, who is a marketing consultant. He enjoys attending sporting events, particularly baseball and football, and plays basketball weekly at the YMCA. Chris’ cheery disposition makes him a favorite amongst our residents. Fortunately, his background as a residential and commercial subcontractor served to prepare him well for his work at Arbor Terrace the last 9 years.
